The 12th annual Art of Fashion design competition and trunk show in Toronto, where the winner will be awarded:
- a minimum cash prize of $1000;
- a complimentary professional photo shoot with model, hair and makeup;
- street-level exposure in the window display of one of Toronto’s top fashion outlets;
- and more.
Will be taking place at King West Fitness in Liberty Village during Nuit Blanche on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010.
“The annual design competition offers up-and-coming Canadian designers a unique opportunity to reach consumers, media and the fashion industry,” says the organization’s founder, Michelle Planche. This year’s theme, La Belle Époque, is chosen in order to draw a hopeful historical parallel with the “beautiful era” before World War I – a time of glamour, opulence and sophistication that blossomed in a period of peace and economic prosperity.”
During the competition, 10 Canadian designers will compete for one of the show’s two prestigious awards: a panel of industry judges will be selecting 2010’s “Most Promising Designer”, while guests will cast their votes for “Best Exhibit”. Each designer showcases six garments created exclusively for Art of Fashion. Previous winners include Zoran Dobric who garments are sold around the world and often spotted the runway of Toronto’s famed Fashion Week; and Cindy Renee Matthiew, who has dressed celebrities like Angela Bassett, Ashley Greene and Jennifer Love Hewitt for the Emmy’s and Golden Globe’s red carpets.
Art of Fashion Inc. is an award-winning not-for-profit organization that is committed to fostering the careers of Canadian apparel and accessory designers by creating platforms for exposure. Art of Fashion was created and founded in 1998 by Michelle Planche, President of Paradigm Events – an event management company based in Toronto, specializing in creative and experience-oriented special events.
